LAKE STATION | A 39-year-old Hobart man was arrested on multiple violations after he crashed his car Sunday night on Interstate 80, Indiana State Police said.
Daniel G. Keen, who tested positive for narcotics, was charged with driving while suspended, operating while intoxicated and possession of a scheduled II narcotic.
The incident, which occurred in the west lanes of Interstate 80 just east of Central Avenue, was reported to state police shortly before 8:30 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates Keen was driving his red 1993 Geo Tracker when he was forced off the road by a semi, police said.
His vehicle reportedly went off the road to the north and down into a water-filled ditch, where it got stuck.
Keen was able to get out and climb out of the ditch, police said.
When asked where he was coming from, Keen told state police he was coming from home. When asked where he was going he said, "I'm going home."
Keen was not injured and was taken to the Lake County Jail.
