HAMMOND | A Lake Station man was arraigned Friday in Hammond federal court on charges of sexual exploitation of children.

Daniel Thomas Eckstrom, of the 3600 block of East 35th Place in Lake Station, is accused of producing child pornography and then distributing it via his Yahoo email account, according to charging affidavits.

Eckstrom admitted he had received child pornography over the Internet for years, the affidavit states. Shown 11 color prints depicting himself and a minor child, Eckstrom estimated the girl to have been 8 or 9 years old when some of the photographs were taken, documents state.

Court records state Eckstrom admitted to having sexual intercourse with the girl, now 12, and sending images of the girl to other individuals via the Internet.

Eckstrom admitted to using marijuana to lure the girl into engaging in sexual conduct with him, the affidavit states.
