HAMMOND | A Lake Station man has pleaded guilty to charges alleging he produced and distributed child pornography.

Daniel Thomas Eckstrom, 31, of Lake Station, entered his pleas without the benefit of a plea agreement Jan. 7 in U.S. District Court. His sentencing is set for April 11.

Eckstrom is accused of producing child pornography and distributing it via his Yahoo email account, according to court records. Shown 11 color prints depicting himself and a minor child, Eckstrom estimated the girl involved in the sexual acts was 8 or 9 years old when some of the photographs were taken, court records state.

Eckstrom admitted he had received child pornography over the Internet for years, according to court records.

In pleading guilty, Eckstrom admitted to having sexual intercourse with the girl and sending images of the girl to other individuals via the Internet. He also admitted to using marijuana to lure the girl into engaging in sexual conduct with him, court records state.

Eckstrom also pleaded guilty to enticement of a 6- to 7-year-old girl to perform sex, which he filmed and distributed on the Internet.

In all, Eckstrom pleaded guilty to eight of nine counts in an indictment filed against him.

The disposition of count six of the indictment, involving a third victim said to be 9 to 10 years old at the time of the alleged acts, remains under consideration by federal prosecutors, court records state.
