LAKE STATION | A Lake Station man broke into 12 cars then stole loose change and other items, police said.

Bradley Blake Keene, 18, was charged through Lake Superior Court with 12 counts of theft, a D felony, and one count of mischief, a B misdemeanor.

Police spoke to a woman in the 2500 block of Dekalb Street on Oct. 17, who said someone had entered her unlocked car and taken items from it, court documents state.

Police checked that street and the surrounding streets and found a total of 12 vehicles that had been entered and items taken, court documents state.

Police questioned a man identified as Keene after he was seen walking up to vehicles and looking in them.

Keene was arrested after police found him with a large amount of loose change.
