HAMMOND | A Lake Station man was charged in federal court Wednesday with one count of conspiracy to defraud the government by submitting false claims for income tax refunds.

Michael Nash, 39, was also charged with four counts of submitting false claims for income tax refunds and three counts of aggravated identity theft, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

The charges resulted from an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigations.
