LAKE STATION | A clerk at Greenfields, 2235 Ripley St., was robbed of cash by a man indicating he was armed, police said.

The incident was reported to police at 7:10 p.m. on Saturday, Police Chief Kevin Garber said.

The clerk told police she heard someone come into the business while she was at the back of the building.

As she approached the man, he demanded she open the drawer to the cash register.

While making the demands, the man covered his face with a black scarf and held his hand by his waistband indicating he had a weapon.

The clerk handed an undetermined amount of cash before the man fled from the business.

The suspected was described as a white man possibly in his mid-20s with dirty blond hair and wearing a tan or brown zip sweatshirt or jacket, bluejeans and a black beanie-style hat.
