CROWN POINT | A Hobart woman was charged with drunken driving, bribery, intimidation, resisting arrest and false informing, Lake County court records show.

Jessica Michelle Lucas, 23, was driving at a high rate of speed early Saturday when she failed to stop for a traffic light at the intersection of Central Avenue and Ripley Street, according to Lake Criminal Court records.

Officer Gregory Viator stopped her car and asked her to explain her traffic violation. Viator alleges Lucas told him she had just left a bar and got off work at Polekatz, an adult entertainment club in Gary, to pick up her children and go home.

The officer said her clothing was in disarray, she smelled of alcohol, had a slurred voice and was unsteady on her feet when she got out of her car.

He said she gave a false name and became combative when he asked her take an alcohol breath test.

Viator alleges she threatened him and offered to pay a Lake County Jail employee $300 to let her go free.

Lucas was convicted in Starke County in March of operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content above the legal limit, court records state.
