LAKE STATION | Firefighters responded to a fire Friday night in an abandoned house at 3225 34th St.

About 9:15 p.m., Lake Station firefighters arrived and found the upper level of the home engulfed. After 30 minutes, the fire was under control.

The property is owned by the city, and no one was inside the structure. Last month, firefighters were called to the same home because of a fire in the basement.

According to the responders, all utilities were previously disconnected at the address and an investigation continues with the suspicion of arson.
