LOWELL | A 17-year-old girl crossing Ind. 2 with friends on Friday was struck by a car and injured, Lowell police said in a release.

The girl and her friends, all Lowell High School students, were attempting to cross Ind. 2 at Holtz Road at about 3:13 p.m. when the 17-year-old was struck, police said.

The girl, who police did not name, was taken to Franciscan St. Anthony Health hospital in Crown Point, police said.

Lowell police were continuing to investigate on Friday. Further information will be released when the investigation is complete, police said.
