There will be prizes for the best costumes at Lowell’s 60th annual Labor Day Kiddie Parade Sunday, Sept. 1. The parade starts at 1 p.m. and runs from Old Towne Square, west on Commercial Avenue to Harding Drive to the Festival Grounds at the old Rieter Automotive Property, 101 W. Oakley Ave.

First, second and third place winners will be chosen in the following categories: fictional/storybook characters; historical/patriotic; farm and tractors; miscellaneous; and this year’s Labor Day Parade theme of “Dreaming Green.”

Prizes include ribbons and cash and all entrants will receive a gift. One grand prize winner will be chosen and invited to be in Lowell’s Labor Day Parade. Winners will be announced at the festival grounds immediately following the Kiddie Parade.

The age limit for participants is 12 and under. Registration begins at 12:15 p.m. at Old Towne Square (the corner of Fremont and Commercial Avenues). Judging will take place at 12:45 p.m.

The band "In Good Company" will entertain and there will be face painting and Balloon Creations by Gabrielle and Danny LA Tulip after the parade.

There is no fee to enter the Kiddie Parade. For further information, contact the Lowell Parks Department at (219) 696-1570.
