LOWELL | A Florida man was arrested Monday after losing control of a semi he was driving while drunk, police said.
Devon L. House, 28, of Casselberry, Fla., was charged with operating while intoxicated and booked into the Lake County Jail.
House was driving at 12:30 a.m. a a 2014 Volvo semi on the southbound lanes of Interstate 65 near the Lowell exit when he went off the road, Indiana State Police said. He overcorrected the truck, which caused the semi to roll over and hit a road sign.
The semi came to a stop across both southbound lanes. The driver and his passenger were not injured.
According to a news release from police, House had a blood alcohol level of 0.27 when he was taken to Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus in Merrillville.
The semi is owned by A.F. Systems in Bensenville, Ill.
Police temporarily closed down the southbound lanes until 3 a.m.
