LOWELL | The Tri-Creek School Board named Kenneth Kramer the new Lowell Middle School dean of students and approved a host of other personnel changes.
Kramer previously taught in the language arts department of Lowell High School. He replaces Tom Stoner, who went to another school district.
In another matter, the board recently accepted congratulations from the Indiana High School Athletic Association for exemplary sportsmanship.
"We are one of three schools recognized statewide," Lowell Athletic Director Patti McCormack said of Lowell High School.
Varsity football player Tony Mauer was singled out for special recognition.
Board member Robert Martinez said he was impressed by comments made by referees of a Sept. 7 football game between Lowell and Griffith that led to the state honor. He quoted referee Shawn Jenkins, in part, "This is our seventh year as a crew, and this game was the greatest game we have had the privilege of officiating."
"It's really nice to read that," Martinez said.
Also, Munster-based SEH of Indiana won the bid for engineering services for the football field lighting and public address system project.
Superior Engineering bid slightly less than SEH's $23,130 offer but did not fully meet the requirements of bid documents, school officials said.
