LOWELL | Those wanting to be part of this year's Lowell Labor Day Parade are urged to apply now.

This year's theme is Dreaming Green, in keeping with the town's recent designation as the 2013 Green Community for the Lake County Solid Waste District.

The parade will step off at 10 a.m. Sept. 2. Those participating should be in their assigned position by 8 a.m. and no later than 9:30.

Cash prizes will be awarded for best of parade overall as well as for the grand prize and first and second prizes for the best use of recycled materials.

There is no fee to enter. However, donations are welcome.

For parade entry applications and guidelines for parade participants, stop in Lowell Town Hall, 501 E. Main St., or go online to www.lowell.net to download an application. The deadline to have an entry listed in the program is Aug. 23.
