LOWELL | The Lowell Police Commission Council will meet at 6 p.m. tonight to make a recommendation for the interim chief of police in the wake of Chief John Shelhart's recent resignation.
At 7 p.m., the Lowell Town Council will meet to act on that recommendation.
Shelhart resigned March 4. His resignation is effective Saturday.
He has been chief since 2006.
