LOWELL | The Lowell Town Council has received quotes for extending Town Hall parking lot to adjacent property to the east, where the Old Grade School was razed earlier this year.
Lowell Public Works Director Greg Shook said the small hill there now will be leveled for the parking lot.
Council President Edgar Corns, R-5th, said more parking spaces are needed.
"It's a good idea. On court night, it gets pretty wild," he said.
Shook said 39 parking spaces would be added. The changes also would allow for a drive-up drop box for town utility payments as requested by Lowell Clerk-Treasurer Judy Walters.
The total estimated price for the extended lot would be $55,410 and include excavation, stone, curbs and paving, town officials said.
Cumulative capital development funds would be used to pay for the project, Walters said.
