LOWELL | A 38-year-old Lowell man was charged Monday with molesting an 8-year-old female relative Friday.

Pedro Castillo Rojas was charged with incest and two counts of felony child molesting, Detective Cpl. James Woestman said. If convicted, Rojas faces a maximum term of 20 years in prison.

According to court documents, the girl on Saturday told her mother she had been raped the previous night by the relative in a locked bathroom of their Lowell apartment.

The victim, who said the sexual assaults have been ongoing since she was 5 years old, told her mother after the attack Rojas kicked her in the leg.

Court records state Rojas, who is being held without bond, admitted to sexual contact with the girl, telling Woestman he had some problems and needed help.

Rojas was acquitted Dec. 27, 2007, of sexual battery, confinement and attempted rape charges after a jury trial in Lake Superior Court.
