LOWELL | The Tri-Creek School Board recently recognized Lowell Middle School bands for their high achievements at this year's ISSMA competition.
Band Director Kyle Govert said the jazz band made Lowell Middle School history when it earned gold, a first for the school, in its first outing at the competition.
The sixth-grade band brought home gold, too, in its first time at the contest. Its members made history with the first gold at that level.
The gold rating earned by the eighth-grade band was the highest in school history and in the most difficult division in which a middle school can compete, Govert said. Their performances were a half-point away from a special "with distinction" award as their score, he said.
