LOWELL | The Town Council will learn today whether last week's decision to switch engineering firms will need a bit of refinement.
David Westland, the new town attorney named last week, said Thursday he'd research the minutes of the meeting and recommend any necessary changes.
The motion last week to hire SEH of Munster as the town's engineering firm provided for the former engineering firm, Commonwealth, to continue work on the wastewater treatment plant only and SEH would pick up the rest.
Some council members expressed concern the abrupt switch would cost the town extra money on existing contracts.
Since that time, Craig Hendricks of SEH met with Lowell Director of Public Works Greg Shook and Council vice president Craig Earley, D-1st, to discuss the transition.
"There is no sense in us stepping in and adding cost if we're not adding value," Hendricks said.
Westland, his partners and principals of SEH were officially introduced to the public in Thursday's work session called for that purpose.
A handful of residents plus the town department heads were there.
Council President Edgar Corns, R-5th, invited the council and department heads to ask questions of the attorneys and engineers, but none were asked.
The council followed the work session with a closed-door session on personnel.
