LOWELL | Saturn, Lord of the Rings, will be the featured night sky object at the Calumet Astronomical Society’s public viewing from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Conway Observatory, south of Buckley Homestead County Park on Chase Street. Visitors will see Mars, very near to a bright, waxing gibbous moon. The event is free and open to all. Park in the designated visitor parking area. Do not use standard flashlights; red-filtered flashlights can be made by cutting the end of a red balloon and putting it over a standard flashlight. Observing with telescopes is dependent on clear weather; call the CAS Info Line (773) 639-5491 before heading to the observatory.
