LOWELL | Eugene Pidzarko, formerly Digital Projects Llibrarian at Purdue University Calumet, is the new director of the Lowell Public Library.
Pidzarko, who received his master's of Library Science degree from Indiana University Bloomington, also has an extensive background in computers, finance and education.
He has served as director of Information Technology for the Hammond Clinic in Munster; Information Systems manager for Calumet Construction in Hammond; and Network, Contracts and Grants administrator for the Accounting Department of the University of California, Irvine. He was also a mathematics instructor at Indiana University and Illinois State University, and a philosophy of science instructor at the University of Maryland.
Pidzarko's love of libraries began in his youth and led him to pursuing a career in library science. "I had heard good things about the library in Lowell," he said. "It is obvious that this community supports and takes pride in its unique library. I look forward to working here."
Pidzarko succeeds Sandy Morgan, who is retiring.
