Hay rides are offered at Lake County's Buckley and Deep River parks this fall. No reservations are needed. These hay rides are not for groups.

At Buckley Homestead County Park, 3606 Belshaw Road, Lowell, riders will enjoy the quiet, steady pace of the horses around the 80-acre trail. Travel through wooded areas and open fields past the pioneer log cabin.

Ride at 1 or 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 22 through Oct. 27 (except Oct. 12-13) for $2 per person with paid admission to the park. Pay at Visitor Center adjoining the parking lot on Hendricks Street.

The ride at Deep River County Park, 9410 Old Lincoln Hwy., Hobart, goes over the river and through the woods at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 5 to 27 for $2. Pay in Visitor Center next to Wood’s Historic Grist Mill.

Groups may reserve hay rides by calling the business office at (219) 769-7275.
