LOWELL | Two bodies found in a Lowell-area home had been decomposing for several days before they were discovered by police Friday, Lake County Sheriff John Buncich said Saturday.

Police are investigating the situation as a double homicide, but Buncich couldn't comment on the manner of death in the case.

"We have a person of interest we're seeking at this time," he said.

At 4:24 p.m. Friday, the Sheriff's Department received a request for a wellbeing check on the residents of a home in the 14500 block of West 197th Avenue in unincorporated Lowell. The two bodies found in the home were "badly decomposed," which has made it difficult to identify the individuals, Buncich said.

County records list the homeowners as Joyce and Clifford Snow. No one answered the phone at the home Saturday night.

The Lake County Sheriff's Department Criminal Investigation and CSI units are working with the Lake County coroner's office to identify the two people through dental records and DNA, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

Lake County investigators are following several leads in the case, Buncich said.

"Several detectives are on this," he said.

Buncich said more information will be provided during a Monday news conference. The time hasn't yet been announced.
