LOWELL | A Schererville teen was charged Monday in connection with the theft of a car from outside a Lowell gas station.
Tate Ixyr-Gaige Kilgore, 19, was charged with auto theft and unlawful entry of a motor vehicle. If convicted, he could face up to three years in prison.
A surveillance video showed Kilgore driving the stolen tan 2000 Pontiac Bonneville away from the gas station, according to court records. The car was recovered in Merrillville, records state.
In an unrelated case, Kilgore was charged July 18 with felony theft for allegedly stealing a relative’s AK-47 and its magazine from the 200 block of 68th Place in Schererville and selling it to a person he knew only as “Nikko” for $350.
Kilgore admitted stealing and selling the gun, but told the relative he was unable to get it back because of “Nikko’s” gang association, records state.
