CEDAR LAKE | Seven fire departments battled a barn blaze in the 10900 block of Parrish Avenue Tuesday night, fire officials said.

Assistant Cedar Lake Fire Chief Nick Mager said a passer-by called in the fire at 6:38 p.m. Mager said it took two hours to bring the fire under control.

He said the barn was a total loss, but no estimate of damages was available. Mager said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

He said to his knowledge there were no animals in the barn and no one was injured.

The Cedar Lake Fire Department was assisted at the scene of the two-alarm fire by firefighters from Crown Point, Lake Hills, St. John, Beecher, Lake Dalecarlia and Lowell, Mager said.
