LOWELL | Former Lowell High School Principal Adrian Richie has resigned the special projects coordinator position created for him and accepted the principal post at Wirt-Emerson Performing Arts Academy in Gary.

The Tri-Creek School Board accepted his resignation in a special session Thursday.

Superintendent Debra Howe said Friday the special projects coordinator position will not be filled.

Lowell High School Assistant Principal Mike Chelap is serving as interim principal, Howe said. She said the permanent position will be posted in January.

Shannon Richards was hired by the board Thursday to fill the assistant principal slot left vacant by Chelap. She served as an elementary principal in the Taylor School Corp. in Kokomo for three years.

John Becker, a Lowell High School math teacher, was moved into the school's dean of students position.

Oak Hill Elementary School teacher Lisa Stoelb was named Lowell Middle School assistant principal. She fills the vacancy left by Stacey Schwuchow, who was transferred to be the principal at Oak Hill.
