LOWELL | The Tri-Creek School Board unanimously approved a $41.15 million budget for 2013.
The adopted tax rate of $1.82 per $100 of assessed valuation will raise $17.2 million.
Business Manager Lynn Kwilacz told the board earlier that the budget figures are higher than what is expected to gain state approval and include a cushion against eventual cutting by state officials.
The general fund was approved at $23.7 million. That's $2 million more than what the district advertised last year. The advertised tax rate for 2012 was $1.42.
Also, the board agreed to revisions relative to pay and point of origin in the Tri-Creek bus drivers' handbook. The revisions are retroactive to the beginning of this school year.
Superintendent Debra Howe said a grading committee composed of parents, teachers, students, administrators and board members is studying Tri-Creek's grading and reporting system at the elementary and secondary levels.
Howe said committee members want to gather public input, and, for that reason, a Listening Post will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lowell Middle School. A survey online through Harmony will be available the week of Oct. 22, she said.
Those unable to go online will be able to complete the survey during parent/teacher conferences Oct. 29 and 30.
