LOWELL | Doug Ward has been elected president of the Tri-Creek School Board.
Michelle Dumbsky will serve as vice president, and Robert Martinez is secretary.
The elections were held with a full board after the board appointed David P. Stanton to serve out the remainder of Jeff Mescal's term.
Mescal announced his resignation a month ago, citing a need for time for other pursuits.
Ward appointed board members to a number of special committee and board positions.
Dumbsky will continue to serve on the Northwest Indiana Special Education Cooperative Board of Managers.
Timothy Cottingham will serve on the Vocational Agricultural Advisory Committee and the Lowell Redevelopment Commission.
Martinez will serve as legislative liaison and policy liaison.
Stanton will be the board's representative on the Coordinated School Health Advisory Council.
The board also approved the hiring of two Lowell Middle School teachers.
Jeff Kacena will replace Jennifer Del Real as a science teacher. Valerie Bernecker will teach English/language arts during a maternity leave of absence.
