LOWELL | The Tri-Creek School Board on Thursday accepted the resignation of the district's business manager.
Lynn Kwilasz has accepted a position as chief financial officer for the Duneland School Corp.
"It's a been a pleasure to be here," Kwilasz said.
The CFO slot in Chesterton was an unexpected opportunity, she said.
Tri-Creek School Corp. Superintendent Debra Howe said she is grateful for the guidance and expertise Kwilasz brought to the job during her year's stay.
"She came at a time when we needed her," Howe said.
Kwilasz stepped into the position after it was unexpectedly vacated by former business manager Tom Dykiel.
"You've taken us a long ways," board President Doug Ward said.
The board agreed to appoint Jacqueline Beery as the interim business manager effective July 31. She is with Education Services Co., of Indianapolis, and has mentored other business managers across the state. She's also served as business manager in various school systems.

The board also approved a number of appointments, including coaching positions for Sherry Hilbrich as aquatics director and Dana Jeffries as girls volleyball varsity coach.
John Harris will serve as girls golf varsity coach, and Del Real will be the Lowell High School cheerleading coach.
Freshman football will be coached by TJ Lukasik. Jim Carlson, Jeremy Bilka, Ed Miracle, Larin Childress and Jamison Kirin will serve as high school football assistant varsity coaches.
