MERRILLVILLE | Every year, the Construction Advancement Foundation (CAF) and the Northwest Indiana Business Roundtable (NWIBRT) join forces to honor the best construction projects in Northwest Indiana, recognize the significance of safety in the industry, and to praise companies for excellence and economic impact in Northwest Indiana. The annual awards ceremony recognizes the ongoing success of industrial, commercial and public works projects, and the companies and organizations behind them, which are driving economic development and job creation in the region.

This year’s ceremony was held on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Avalon Manor in Merrillville. More than 600 construction professionals attended the event, including 10 members of MC Industrial’s Indiana office.

“The annual CAF/NWIBRT Awards Ceremony is a very important event for the contractor companies and the safety professionals that support them,” said Rick Foor, chair of the NWIBRT Safety Committee. “This event gives company owners and managers an opportunity to see how their performance compares to that of their competitors. It also re-enforces how much emphasis the owner companies place on safety and the expectation for contractors to continuously improve.”

The banquet offered recognition in a variety of categories for professionals in industries such as construction, safety, and healthcare. Awards were also given for excellence in standards, innovation and development in the construction industry during the past year for a variety of projects, contractors and companies. To be eligible for an award, a project must have been completed between May 1 of the preceding year and April 1 of the current year. Nominees must have detailed how they met or exceeded the following criteria: safety; excellence in partnering and teamwork; quality in project management; innovation and uniqueness in construction techniques; sympathy for the environment and its surroundings; character and value that was added to the community; and craftsmanship.
