MERRILLVILLE | A 36-year-old Merrillville woman is accused of attacking a man with knives and biting him at her home Friday, police said.
Vieda Ballentine allegedly started yelling at the man after she returned to her home on 62nd Avenue following a Christmas party in Gary.
The man told police Ballentine threw knives at him while he was walking away from her, according to a report.
Police said Ballentine walked toward the man with a knife in her hand. The man told police he struck Ballentine and attempted to take the knife away from her, the report said.
The man suffered a long laceration to his back, a bite wound on his arm and scratches to his forehead and nose, police said.
Ballentine was charged with battery by means of a deadly weapon.
