MERRILLVILLE | A 22-year-old Crown Point man allegedly forged four checks in September and October.
Dustin Gertz was charged in Lake Criminal Court with forgery.
A relative of Gertz told police four of the relative's checks were missing. Those checks were used to draw a total of $365 from a bank account, court documents state.
A person cashed the checks for Gertz at banks in Merrillville and Crown Point because Gertz didn't have a bank account, according to court documents. The person turned the funds over to Gertz after the checks were cashed, the documents state.
