HAMMOND | Centier Bank made its’ inaugural Money Smart Week 2013 presentation to clients of Deaf Services Inc., along with other residents at the Renaissance Towers in Hammond. The presentation pertained to budgeting, checking accounts and credit.
"Deaf Services is so fortunate to have partnered with Centier Bank and the Money Smart Week effort. The education that was shared with our clients was so valuable to them," said Debra Pampalone, Deaf Services program director. "Many people do not realize how hearing people get most of their daily information. . .90 percent of what we (hearing individuals) learn is through background noise.
"The financial information that was shared with our clients was all new to them; those of us who are hearing learn so much through incidental learning. I am sure that everyone left the presentation feeling much smarter about their personal finances and will feel safer now when banking.
"Knowing about gel pens, information that should not be included on personal checks, and safe measures to take when using an ATM, were all very valuable bits of knowledge imparted.”
