LAPORTE | Two Lake County women were injured with nonlife threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 in LaPorte County, state police said.
The crash happened at about 2 p.m. as Gayle L. Jenkins, 57, of Merrillville, was traveling west on I-94 near mile marker 39, the Indiana State Police said. Jenkins swerved to the left and lost control of her 2004 Buick Rendezvous after an SUV made an abrupt lane change in front of her.
Jenkins went off the road and hit the median barrier wall, police said. The vehicle rotated and hit the wall again. The vehicle went back onto the lanes and stopped on the outer shoulder.
Jenkins was taken to Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Michigan City with non-life threatening injuries, police said. Her passenger, Linda Adamczewski, 61, of Gary, was also taken to the same hospital with injuries to her neck, shoulder and leg.
