MERRILLVILLE | A new member of Merrillville's Stormwater Management Board says he plans to leave the panel.
Curtis Luna on Tuesday said he hadn't yet submitted a letter of resignation to Merrillville leaders, but he intends to do so before the Town Council has its regular meeting April 22.
"I have already attended my last Stormwater Management Board meeting," Luna said.
Luna wouldn't comment about the reason he is stepping down.
Town Council President Carol Miano appointed Luna to the stormwater board in January.
Luna took the seat that had been held by Dorinda Gregor since the board was established about 10 years ago.
Gregor, who is Merrillville's zoning director, had applied to retain the board position.
Councilman Tom Goralczyk, chairman of Merrillville's Environmental Affairs Committee, said he was unaware of Luna's intentions to leave the stormwater board.
"He hasn't spoke to me about it," Goralczyk said of Luna.
Miano couldn't be reached Tuesday for comment.
