MERRILLVILLE | Town leaders continue to be frustrated with cars parked on residential streets during heavy snowfall.

Town Councilmen said on-street parking hinders Merrillville's snow removal efforts.

If plows can't adequately remove snow, it creates issues for vehicles, including school buses and garbage trucks, attempting to travel on those streets.

Police Chief Joseph Petruch told the Town Council the Police Department will have vehicles towed if they are in violation of a town ordinance prohibiting on-street parking when 2 or more inches of snow has accumulated.
