MERRILLVILLE | A man is in intensive care after suffering multiple gunshot wounds early Saturday outside of Club 83.
An altercation was reported in the parking lot of the business in the 1500 block of East 83rd Avenue while the club was closing about 2:45 a.m., Merrillville police Sgt. Jeff Rice said.
Police officers and security were called to break up the altercation and disperse the people in the parking lot.
While people were leaving, several gunshots were heard near a corner of the business, Rice said.
Officers located a man who was shot multiple times in the parking lot, he said. The number of gunshot wounds he suffered wasn't available Monday afternoon.
Rice said the man remains in intensive care at a local hospital.
Police also recovered a round that struck a parked vehicle in the area, Rice said.
Police continue to investigate the shooting, but officers have made no arrests in the case and there are no suspects, Rice said.
