MERRILLVILLE | A Merrillville man accused of being part of a drug ring that netted more than $450,000 accepted a plea deal Thursday, according to court records.
Dwayne T. Crawford pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 100 kilograms of marijuana and 500 grams of cocaine, according to court documents. He also pleaded guilty to criminal transactions amounting to more than $10,000.
Crawford also agreed to forfeit jewelry, seven fur coats, a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche and two firearms found at his Merrillville home in 2008.
He was one of several people arrested in 2008 whom officials said were part of a ring distributing marijuana and cocaine. Crawford is also known as "Reese," "Tyrice" and "Dred."
As part of the plea deal, Crawford could serve at least five years in prison and faces up to a $2 million fine.
