Merrillville residents can apply for board, commission seats

MERRILLVILLE | The town is accepting letters of interest for upcoming vacancies on boards and commissions.

There will be one Democratic and one Republican seat available on the Plan Commission, one Republican seat on the Police Commission, one Democratic seat on the Board of Zoning Appeals and one Democratic seat on the Stormwater Management Board.

Merrillville residents interested in filling those spots must provide letters of interest by noon Dec. 31 at Town Hall, 7820 Broadway.

The Town Council will appoint residents to those spots during its first meeting in 2013, Council President Shawn Pettit said.
