MERRILLVILLE | The Lake County Substance Abuse Council held a creative artwork contest for Red Ribbon Week. From the 1,000 fifth and sixth graders from Merrillville Intermediate School, three student’s posters were submitted.
The fifth grade White Team's Sophia Lotkowski, the sixth grade Purple Team's Savanah Collins and the sixth grade White Team's Kaylee Conner received a Participation Certificate and tumbler from the LCSAC.
MIS social worker Mrs. Rogowski and Ms. Jones-Guidance helped coordinate the contest with the MIS art teachers. All students created their posters in their art classes.
Mrs. Raketic, a sixth grade art teacher, assisted in choosing the top three posters from all the MIS entries. The winner of the contest will have their poster seen on a billboard in the Lake County area.
