MERRILLVILLE | Town Council President Shawn Pettit said he wants to develop a program to make tree branch collection easier for Merrillville senior citizens.

The Public Works Department passes through the town multiple times each year to collect fallen branches, but Pettit thinks an on-call program for senior citizens would be beneficial.

Pettit said councilmen will discuss the proposal during a workshop next week.
