CROWN POINT | Crown Point High School sophomore Alexandra Baloski won the Red Ribbon Week Poster Contest sponsored by the Lake County Substance Abuse Council. Her work is displayed on an electronic billboard near the corner of Interstate 65 and U.S. 30 in Merrillville. Baloski also won an iPad mini as the contest's grand prize winner. “I came up with the idea with my friends because they told me to do something really fun and whimsical,” Baloski said. “I also changed the design many times, so it looked nothing like I originally thought it would. I wanted to send kids a positive message.” According to Amanda Morrison, Lake County Substance Abuse Council coordinator, the contest was designed to give students an opportunity to show their support for “saying no to drugs.”
