MERRILLVILLE | The St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church wants the region to "experience the culture" during its annual Serb Fest, church spokesmen said.
The festival runs from noon to midnight Friday and Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday at the church, 9191 Mississippi St.
Traditional Serbian food will be among the highlights of the festival.
Stuffed cabbage, cevaps (sausages), roasted lamb and roasted pig will be among the items available. The festival also features many Serbian baked goods.
Live music and dancing is scheduled throughout the festival.
Bands scheduled to perform include Prazna Flasa, Dunav and T-Roma and Friends.
A large pavilion will be open, so weather shouldn't affect the outdoor festival.
An exhibit about inventor Nikola Tesla will be open in the church's cultural museum. Activities for children also are available.
