MERRILLVILLE | A 14-year-old Merrillville boy was in critical condition Thursday after suffering a gunshot wound to the head Wednesday night in the 7500 block of Marshall Street, police said.
The teenager was in the living room of his family's home when the shooting occurred, according to a Merrillville police news release.
Officers responded to the home about 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
The teenager initially was taken to a local hospital. He was later airlifted to an Illinois hospital. Police said the victim was in critical condition Thursday afternoon.
There are no suspects in the case, police said.
