Library trees on display

MERRILLVILLE | Nine Christmas trees decorated in different themes and representing the various branches in the Lake County Public Library system are on display from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Acheff Art Gallery in the Lake County Public Library, 1919 W. U.S. 30, Merrillville.

Kids make holiday cookies

SCHERERVILLE | Parents can get their last-minute holiday errands done while children (ages 3-10) make and decorate cookies for Santa from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Schererville Community Center, 500 E. Joliet St. Cost is $16 for residents, $18 for nonresidents.


Christmas services offered

MUNSTER | Ridge United Methodist Church, 8607 Columbia Ave., Munster, celebrates Christmas Eve with three candlelight services. At 5 p.m., children and families will hear the children's choir and a Christmas story. At 9 p.m., the Chancel Choir will perform. A service of special music is set for 11 p.m.

HAMMOND | Covenant Presbyterian Church, 6709 Arizona Ave., holds a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m.

3 congregations celebrate

GRIFFITH | The Calumet Episcopal Ministry Partnership — including St. Barnabas in Gary, St. Paul in Munster and St. Timothy in Griffith — will celebrate the Christmas Feast on Christmas Eve at St. Timothy. The service begins with singing of carols followed by the Christmas Mass. It's from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at St. Timothy Episcopal Church, 1115 N. Cline Ave., Griffith.


Observance features poetry

SCHERERVILLE | Lake Hills Baptist Church, 9209 W. 85th Ave., Schererville, holds a Christmas Day service from 10 to 11 a.m. featuring recitations, poetry and music by many of the children of the church.


Winder Wondercamp in session

SHERERVILLE | Schererville offers a Winter Wondercamp with snow games, sports, seasonal crafts, movies, games, music and story time and more. It's from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Friday and Jan. 2 and 3 at the Schererville Community Center, 500 E. Joliet St. Snacks will be provided. Send lunch and reusable water bottle labeled with child's name each day. Child must be potty trained. Cost is $120 for residents/$135 for nonresidents. Kids paint with cocoa, snow

CROWN POINT | South Shore Arts Crown Point branch, 123 N. Main St., holds a winter babies workshop from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Toddlers will paint with chocolate and snow. Chorale performs concert

HAMMOND | Cynthia Nunn and Dayspring Ministries Chorale presents an annual Christmas concert from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dayspring Church of God in Christ, 860 State St., Hammond. Concert stars The McGowan and Corinthian Temple COGIC Choir with special guest Darryl Anderson and One4Christ Praise & Worship by Brother Corey Camphor.
