Symphony's Wine Brunch

MERRILLVILLE | The Women’s Association of the Northwest Indiana Symphony Society hosts its 41st annual May Wine Brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Celebrity Ballroom at the Radisson Hotel. It features a Boulevard of Shoppes, wine tasting, brunch, a style show and the best hat contest. Admission is $45. Slager speaks to chamber

ST. JOHN | State Rep. IUN commencement

Exercise pointers offered

HAMMOND | The Franciscan Senior Promise group holds a session on exercises you can do at home. The program offers people 55 and older with information on health issues and advice on lifestyle choices. The session is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Franciscan St. Margaret Health-Hammond, 5454 Hohman Ave.

Friends of Hospice benefit

HOBART | The Friends of Hospice, fundraising auxiliary for Hospice of the Calumet Area, sponsors its Seeds of Hope dinner from 6 to 9:15 p.m. at Avalon Manor, 3550 E. U.S. 30, Hobart. This year’s event will honor Cal and Cathy Bellamy for their decades-long support of hospice and charities throughout Northwest Indiana. The luau-themed evening will begin with cocktails, followed by dinner, a brief program and live auction. Casual attire is encouraged. Proceeds will benefit Hospice of the Calumet Area. Mother's Day breakfast

DYER | The Dyer Chamber of Commerce will host a Mother's Day breakfast and meet-and-greet from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Social Hall, 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer. Scrambled eggs and French toast sticks will be served while guests watch a dance exhibit by Patti's All-American. Exhibits showcase the offerings of Dyer businesses, services and organizations. Tickets are $2 and available at First Midwest Bank, First National Bank, Patti's All-American and Peoples Bank. Half of the proceeds will benefit the St. Maria Goretti Food Pantry.
