WEST LAFAYETTE | Teams from three Northwest Indiana high schools took top medals at the Academic Super Bowl state finals held Saturday at Purdue University.

Munster High’s team earned two third-place medals in the math and interdisciplinary categories for Class 1 schools.

The team from Chesterton won the Class 1 fine arts competition.

Andrean’s team earned a second-place medal in the math competition for Class 3 schools.

The school’s student enrollment determines which class in which teams compete, with Class 1 schools having the largest number of students and Class 4 having the smallest enrollment figures.

The three area schools’ teams advanced to the state finals from regional competitions that involved nearly 5,100 students from 280 high schools throughout the state.

The competition consisted of questions in math, science, English, social studies and fine arts competition and a sixth interdisciplinary round that included questions from the other five subject areas.
