Woman charged with theft, fraud over credit card use

MERRILLVILLE | A 28-year-old woman is accused of using a stolen debit card to withdraw funds from a bank account.

Josephine Rodriguez, of Romeo, Mich., was charged with theft and fraud in Lake Criminal Court.

The victim told police she realized her purse was missing Dec. 25 while she was visiting a relative in Merrillville.

A debit card in the purse was used at an ATM to withdraw $400 from her bank account, according to court documents.

Police obtained video footage of the ATM transaction, the documents state. The victim identified Rodriguez, who once lived with the victim, as the person making the transaction, according to the documents.
