Young completes basic training

Army Reserve Pvt. Tre L. Young has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises. Young is the son of Iris Crowder, of Gary.

He is a 2013 graduate of West Side Leadership Academy, Gary.

Two complete military training

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Derrick Robinson Jr. and Air Force Airman Anthony J. McMillan graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Robinson is the son of Derrick and Alice Robinson, of Homewood. He is a 2008 graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

McMillan is the son of Latina McMillan, of Harvey. He is a 2010 graduate of Chicago High School for Agricultural and Sciences.

Brehmer graduates from OSUT

Army National Guard Pvt. Carl J. Brehmer has graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo., which included basic military training and advanced individual training (AIT).

During AIT, the soldier completed the military police specialist course to acquire skills to provide combat area support, conduct battlefield circulation control, area security, prisoner of war operations, civilian internee operations, and law and order operations. The trainee performed as a team member in support of battlefield operations, installation law and order operations and security of Army resources and installations.

Brehmer is the son of Lisa and Clint Morgan, of Crown Point. He is a 2012 graduate of Crown Point High School.
