Five complete military training

Air Force Airman 1st Class Branton J. Wingate, Air Force Airman Jerry B. Camel, Air Force Airman Michael A. Rinchak, Air Force Airman Joseph M. Plath and Air Force Airman Jessica L. Polacek graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Wingate is the son of Penny Wingate, of Merrillville. He is a 2013 graduate of Merrillville High School.

Camel is the son of Sherri and Jerry Camel, of Chicago. He is a 2013 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, Chicago.

Rinchak is the son of Mike and Ruth Rinchak, of Chesterton. He is a 2010 graduate of Chesterton High School.

Plath earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Karen Plath, of Homewood and Jamey Plath, of Matteson. The airman is a 2011 graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

Polacek is the daughter of Patricia and Joel Polacek, of Homewood. She is a 2013 graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
