MUNSTER | The public is welcome to join The Times employees as blood donors from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The Times will host a Heartland Blood Centers blood drive at its main office, 601 45th St. The goal is to collect 44 units.

Heartland will bring its large coach and can accommodate donors inside and outside the vehicle. "They keep the donations local, so if you donate here, the blood supplies our hospitals in Lake County," said Barb Mason, The Times Media Company regional director for Human Resources.

Call Mason at (219) 933-4050 or email barb.mason@nwi.com to make an appointment to donate, which is preferred. "Employees are participating in huge numbers," Mason added. "We’d love the public’s support, too.

"We are hosting this blood drive because the gift of life is a great way to give back directly to our community," Mason said.
